I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Good travelers practice humility, compassion, and patience. If one missed train, one crowded tourist attraction, or one bad meal is enough to ruin your trip, you probably need to re-examine your priorities.
All the little lifestyle accouterments so many of us don’t even think twice about, really do add up. And saving for travel isn’t much different than saving up for grad school, or for a new car, or for retirement.
Having emergency contact numbers in your phone, knowing self-defense, and carrying a decoy wallet may all be smart precautions. Equally smart is knowing the right time to use them.
Bucket lists are all well and good, but expectations can be disappointed and the richest experiences tend to come from unexpected turns.
